Stefano to Unveil Newly Dedicated Captain Leroy Freeman Berkebile Memorial Bridge

Labor Day Weekend marks the end of summer vacation and I can`t help but reflect on what an eventful season it has been! 🌅 County fairs, community events -and of course, passing the state budget in July- made this summer a warm, busy, but rewarding few months.
As the temperatures drop and season comes to a close, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the incredible interns my office had the pleasure of working with this summer: Tyler Kalich and Isaac Johnsen.
🔹 Tyler is a junior at West Virginia University, studying Accounting and Management Information Systems. This was his second year interning in our Connellsville district office where he assumed a crucial role in assisting constituents with PennDOT paperwork, Property Tax-Rent Rebate applications and other state-government-related issues.
🔹 Isaac is a new graduate Saint Francis University with dual degrees in Biology and Political Science. This fall, he`s started law school at Villanova University with hopes of becoming an environmental attorney. Isaac was based out of our Harrisburg office and got hands-on experience with legislative research and bill tracking.
Their hard work, fresh perspectives and support have been invaluable to our office – we cannot thank them enough! Best of luck to Tyler and Isaac on the start of a new school year. ✏️ We`re excited to see what`s next for both of you!
🎓 COLLEGE STUDENTS INTERESTED IN STATE GOVERNMENT: My office offers fall and spring semester (as well as summer) opportunities for those looking to gain experience in state government, just like Tyler and Isaac. Congratulations to McKelvey Foor for earning the rank of Eagle Scout. ⚜️ McKelvey has served as his troop`s Senior Patrol Leader and chose to rebuild a chicken barbecue pit at Berlin Community Grove for his service project. Great work!

In July, veterans in Fayette County, PA enjoyed a free breakfast courtesy of Fayette County Fair Queen Haylee Bill`s hog. 🐖
Haylee, a junior at Albert Gallatin High School and a member of the FFA, wanted to honor our area veterans and put her FFA project to good use. In partnership with the Hopwood AMVETS Post 103, Haylee hosted breakfast for a room full of veterans and her hog provided the sausage.
Great work, Haylee! 🍳

This year, the board named him the 2024 recipient of the "Friend of the Fair" award – celebrating his dedication and significant contributions to not only the fair, but agriculture throughout Fayette County, PA and beyond.

🤼♀️ State wrestling champions were recognized on the Senate floor as part of “High School Wrestling Day” at the capitol. This was the first year state championships were sanctioned by the PIAA for girls’ wrestling and I’m proud that we have two phenomenal wrestlers out of Bedford County – Jordyn Fouse and Violette Lasure. 🏆
Jordyn is a three-time state championship title holder, heading into her senior year at Bishop McCort Catholic High School. Now a sophomore at Chestnut Ridge High School, Violette completed her first high school wrestling season undefeated and is ranked 25th in girls wrestling across the country.
I congratulate Jordyn, Violette and all of the female wrestlers in the commonwealth for being trailblazers and ultimately, history-makers, during the PIAA’s first sanctioned season. 🤼♀️ I look forward to continually cheering for girls wrestling in Pennsylvania in the many years to come!
